Amazon return drop-off locations: where should you go?
The right location is the one Amazon offers for your specific item. Here is how to compare the current options, avoid a wasted trip, and bring the right code or packaging.
Quick answer
Start the return in Amazon Your Orders. For an eligible U.S. return, the choices may include FedEx Office, Whole Foods Market, The UPS Store, Kohl's, Staples, participating Rent-A-Center stores, or a regional partner. Select one of the options Amazon shows, then take the item to that exact partner with the assigned QR code or label.
Do not assume every item can go to every location. Availability, price, packaging, and label requirements can change with the item and delivery address. Amazon's current location guide ↗
Amazon return drop-off options at a glance
Amazon said in March 2026 that its U.S. network had grown to more than 10,000 drop-off locations. The list below summarizes the options in that announcement. Your own return screen remains the deciding source for eligibility.
| Drop-off option | What to expect | Check before you go |
|---|---|---|
| FedEx Office | Eligible Amazon returns can be box-free and label-free with the FedEx Office QR code. Amazon added more than 1,500 FedEx Office locations to its network in 2026. Amazon sourceFedEx locator | FedEx Office must appear in your return choices. Use a participating location listed with the QR-code instructions. |
| Whole Foods Market | Eligible returns can go to the selected store without a shipping box or printed label. Many stores have a return counter; some have a self-service kiosk. Whole Foods policyStore locator | Select the specific Whole Foods location offered in Amazon. Your preferred store may not be eligible for that item or ZIP code. |
| The UPS Store | Many locations accept eligible Amazon returns. Amazon says this is free unless a closer free option exists; in a small number of cases, a $1 fee may appear. Amazon sourceStore locator | Review any fee and the packing instructions before confirming. Take the return to the selected UPS Store location. |
| Kohl's | Participating Kohl's stores can appear as a convenient drop-off choice for eligible returns. Amazon sourceKohl's locator | Use Kohl's only when Amazon offers it for the item. The locator can show Amazon Returns Outpost as a store-service filter. |
| Staples | A participating Staples store may appear as the drop-off point for an eligible return. Amazon sourceStaples locator | Not every nearby Staples is necessarily an option. Select the store in Amazon and follow its item-prep instructions. |
| Other participating partners | Amazon also lists participating Rent-A-Center stores, plus select Save Mart, Winn-Dixie, and Evergreen Goodwill locations in certain regions. How to choose the right return location
-
Open Your Orders.
Find the purchase on Amazon.com or in the Amazon Shopping app and choose “Return or replace items.”
-
Complete the item questions.
Select the item, return reason, and available refund choice. The details Amazon asks for can vary by order.
-
Compare only the methods shown.
Review the location, price, distance, packaging instructions, and whether you will receive a QR code or printable label.
-
Select a specific partner and location.
Confirm the method before checking store hours or directions. Codes are tied to the return method and may be partner-specific.
-
Save the instructions and code.
Keep the code available in the app or email. A screenshot can be useful if mobile service is weak at the counter.
-
Drop off by the date Amazon displays.
Bring the correct item and anything the instructions require. Keep the drop-off receipt until the refund is complete.
What should you bring?
Your confirmation page is the final checklist. For many eligible in-person returns, you need the item and the partner-specific QR code. Some methods require the original packaging, an outer shipping box, or a printed label.

At Whole Foods, Amazon's current instructions say to use the exact store chosen in the return flow and show the emailed QR code at its return point. FedEx likewise instructs customers to check the email containing a QR code for the participating locations that can process it. Whole Foods walkthrough ↗ FedEx QR guidance ↗
Which Amazon return deadline applies?
Use the return-by date shown for the item in Your Orders. Do not rely on a universal “30-day rule”: return windows and exceptions can vary by item, seller, category, purchase timing, and special holiday policy.
Amazon's full returns policy explains category and condition rules, while Your Orders shows what applies to the purchase in your account. If Amazon has already approved the return, follow the deadline and instructions in that return confirmation.
Set a fallback reminder as soon as the date appears. Put a calendar reminder several days before the displayed deadline, even if you also use a dedicated deadline tool. A reminder cannot recover a window that has already closed.
Know where to go—and do not miss the return date.
Recoup Radar workflow: open a supported English-language Amazon order or return page in Chrome with the return-by date visible, choose “Track current page,” review the detected date, and save it for browser reminders. The free plan keeps up to five return deadlines active at once, and no bank connection is required.
Recoup Radar needs supported date text to be visible on the page. It does not start or submit an Amazon return, choose a drop-off method, or track or issue the refund. Amazon Your Orders remains the source of truth for the return and refund status.

Where can I drop off an Amazon return?
Open Your Orders and start the return. Depending on the item and location, Amazon may offer FedEx Office, Whole Foods Market, The UPS Store, Kohl's, Staples, participating Rent-A-Center stores, a regional partner, or another method. Use only an option shown for that specific return.
Can I take an Amazon return to any drop-off location?
No. The available locations vary by item, size, weight, seller, and ZIP code. Select a location in the Amazon return flow and take the return to that location with the code or label Amazon provides.
Do I need a box or printed label?
Not always. Many eligible returns are box-free and label-free, but some require packaging or a printed label. Follow the instructions shown after choosing your return method.
Are Amazon return drop-offs free?
Amazon says most items delivered in the United States have a free return option, but not every return or method is free. The UPS Store option may show a $1 fee in a small number of cases when a closer free option is available. Check the cost shown before confirming.
Can I use FedEx Office for an Amazon return?
Yes, if FedEx Office appears as an option for the item. Amazon added FedEx Office to its box-free, label-free network for eligible returns in 2026. Select it first and bring the FedEx Office QR code to the chosen location.
Can I drop an Amazon return at Whole Foods?
Yes, when “Whole Foods Dropoff” appears in the return choices. Choose the specific store Amazon offers and take the item and QR code to its customer-service desk, Pickup & Return desk, or kiosk as directed.
Can I use an Amazon Locker for every return?
No. A pickup point or Locker should be used for a return only when Amazon offers it for that item and provides instructions. Do not leave a return at a location that is not listed in your return flow.
How long does the refund take after drop-off?
Timing can vary with the item, return review, and payment method. Keep the receipt and track the return and refund status in Your Orders. A completed drop-off does not guarantee that funds will appear immediately.
